HOW DO I CHOOSE A PET CREMATORY?
When considering aftercare for a beloved pet, owners want a cremation facility they can trust. It’s our goal to help clients make informed decisions and to ultimately make a very difficult time easier. With this in mind, we have linked to an article from the International Association of Pet Cemeteries and Crematories (IAOPCC). This is an association we proudly belong to and we strictly adhere to its standards and terminology. read more…

HOW DO I CARE FOR MY PET AFTER HE OR SHE HAS PASSED AWAY?
Until decisions and preparations can be made, place your pet in the coldest part of your home. Put plastic down on the floor (a plastic bag or tarp will work) and then place newspaper or a blanket on top of the plastic. Place your pet on top of the blanket or paper and then cover your pet with another towel or blanket. At this time, if possible, make any necessary aftercare arrangements.

Please call us anytime if you would like more information or require aftercare for your pet.

IS CREMATION EXPENSIVE?
Cremation is generally quite affordable. We offer various levels of service depending on your needs and your budget.
MY PET PASSED AWAY AT THE VETERINARIANS OFFICE. CAN I SELECT WHERE MY PET IS CREMATED?
Yes, and we always encourage pet owners to do so. Remember, the type and quality of aftercare you want for your pet is a personal decision that only you and/or your family can make. You can always tell your veterinarian how you want your pet to be cared for and by whom. We will gladly pick up your pet from any veterinarian. You can call us directly and we will respond to your veterinarian’s office at the time you request. Please don’t hesitate to call with any questions.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO HAVE MY PET BROUGHT TO ALABAMA PET CREMATION FROM MY VETERINARIAN'S OFFICE?
This depends mainly on when you or your veterinarian’s office calls and where the office is located. Typically, once a call is received, our team members are immediately dispatched.
HOW CAN I BE SURE MY PET WILL BE HANDLED RESPECTFULLY?
It is so important to us to make sure that you understand the level of care we provide for your pet. Whether we’re talking to you on the phone or you’re making arrangements in person, we’ll carefully explain just how we provide the level of dignity that we would require for our own pets.
HOW CAN I KNOW I AM RECEIVING MY PET BACK?
Alabama Pet Cremation is absolutely committed to returning your pet, and only your pet in his or her entirety to you. We do not remove any pet from a residence or a clinic without proper identification. A paper identification tag is placed on your pet as well as a numbered metal tag that will accompany your pet through the entire cremation process. During the cremation process, the paper tag is kept next to the crematory so that the operator can positively identify your pet’s remains when the cremation is finished.
WHEN CAN MY PET BE RETURNED TO ME?
We cremate all pets that arrive at our facility, regardless of the type of cremation, within two days. If you chose a private cremation, your pet will be ready to be picked up at our facility within 24 hrs. If your pet will need to be returned to your veterinary clinic or your residence, you can expect a time frame of three business days.
CAN I BE PRESENT AND OBSERVE DURING THE CREMATION PROCEDURE?
Yes. You may always observe the entire cremation procedure or any portion that you may choose.
HOW DO I KNOW THAT I AM GETTING MY PET BACK, IF I DO NOT ATTEND THE CREMATION?
HOW DO I KNOW THAT I AM GETTING MY PET BACK, IF I DO NOT ATTEND THE CREMATION?
A good pet crematory will be happy to explain its procedures in this regard in depth. Pet owners should seek out a thorough procedure, one that is backed by a good safeguard to prevent human error. Questioning a pet crematory about their identification policy is important in all situations whether you utilize your veterinarian or work directly with a cremation facility. Alabama Pet Cremation provides an unprecedented level of transparency regarding all of our operations, procedures and policies. This ultimately allows us to give our clients comfort and assurance during such a difficult time.
WILL MY PET BE CREMATED WITH OTHER ANIMALS?
Whether a pet is cremated with other pets depends on the aftercare plan the client chooses. At Alabama Pet Cremation, cremations are performed privately or communally as requested by the pet owner. Cremations are strictly in accordance with the International Pet Cremation Standards. ALL PRIVATE CREMATIONS ARE PERFORMED WITH A SINGLE ANIMAL IN THE CREMATORY FOR THE ENTIRE PROCESS. This ensures that there is no commingling of the remains.
WHAT IS A PRIVATE CREMATION?
A “private” cremation is when only one pet is placed in the crematory for the entire cremation process.
IF I CHOOSE TO NOT RECEIVE MY PET'S REMAINS BACK, WILL I BE NOTIFIED WHEN THE SERVICE HAS BEEN COMPLETE? WHAT WILL BE DONE WITH MY PET'S REMAINS?
Once the communal cremation is complete, we will mail you a certificate of cremation. We then scatter the cremains from our communal cremations in a beautiful area by hand. If a communal cremation is the service you choose for your pet, rest assured that all pets who pass through our facility are treated with absolute dignity.
DOES MY PET HAVE TO BE PLACED IN AN URN?
All pets cremated at our facility are placed in one of our standard urns unless you choose another type or style of urn from our large and reasonably priced selection. We have many different kinds of urns so you’re sure to find one that memorializes your pet in the way you see fit. You cared enough to bring your pet to us and we care enough to send every pet home in a proper urn with the dignity they deserve. View urn catalog
WHY CHOOSE A PET CREMATION OVER A PET BURIAL?
How to care for your departed pet is a very personal choice. Cremation gives you the option of keeping your pet’s remains with you or scattering their ashes in a place that is special to you both. Important things to consider are whether or not you will be at your residence long term and whether or not laws exist in your area about home burial.
WHY ARE ALL BODIES PLACED IN BAGS?
The bodies of our beloved friends are placed in body bags to contain the body and only the body of your pet. This procedure keeps your beloved friend clean and separate from any other pet while in our care. We insist that all of our beloved friends are kept in separate body bags.
CAN I PREPARE FOR THE PASSING OF AN ELDERLY OR INFIRM ANIMAL?
Yes. Preparing in advance for the passing of a sick or elderly pet can make things a little easier for you when the time comes. Call us or come by anytime to discuss ways in which you can prepare
